How Many Nuts in 100 Calories?

100 Calorie NutsAt the September 11 meeting of Imperial TOPS NE0267, Donna contributed a tidbit on how many nuts can fit into 100 calories. These are the numbers according to thekitchn.com.
  • Almonds: 15-19
  • Whole cashews: 13-14
  • Peanuts: 16 (2 Tablespoons)
  • Pecan Halves: 10
  • Pistachios: 28 shelled or heaping 1/3 cup unshelled
The Clemson, South Carolina Cooperative Extension offers a whole list of 100-calorie snacks on their website.

Roll Call

Lorna was the Best Loser for the week and won the Ha-Ha drawing. Barb received the Kept It Off certificate, which she can exchange for a month’s dues.

Business

Cheryl gave the Treasurer’s report. The Ogallala TOPS group will host a picnic in Grant this Saturday at noon. At least 4 Imperial members plan to attend the Fall Rally in Sidney on September 27. Those present at the meeting reviewed and made changes in Chapter By-Laws.

Challenges

Challenges for the week are to choose a specific bedtime and to stick with it throughout the week. Sleep is an important factor in weight loss.
The second challenge is to read and heed the suggestions from the September Calendar Karen created.

Thursday: Eat at least one fruit and one vegetable.
Friday: March in place during TV commercials.
Saturday and Sunday: Remember your food journal over the weekend.
Monday: Water, Water, Water!
Tuesday: Tell someone you love them.
Wednesday: Eat an apple. Apple fact: The Pink Lady apple was the first brand-named apple.

Area Captain Mary Lou Beisner will present next week’s program, and Diann on September 25.

TOPS Club meets from 9 to 10 a.m. on Thursdays at the Imperial Community Center, with weigh-ins beginning at 8:30. The first meeting is free.
