Eat More Turkey

TOPS News

Six TOPS and one KOPS were present at the November 13 meeting of Imperial TOPS NE0267. Barb and Karen were the Best Losers; Shirley won a little cash in the Ha-Ha drawing.

November  Challenges:

  1. Stretch for at least 5 minutes twice a day.
  2. Use Plate Power, following the USDA MyPlate guidelines for a balanced diet.
Karen started the meeting with a 5-minute stretch, followed by discussion of monthly goals and the Christmas party. Diann offered to plan the party, which is set for December 18.

Turkey Facts:

  • Benjamin Franklin wanted the turkey to be the national bird.
  • Wild turkeys can run up to 25 miles an hour and fly up to 55 miles an hour.
  • You can tell the gender of a turkey by size – and droppings.
  • Turkey meat is low in cholesterol and calories, contains healthy amounts of protein, vitamin B, potassium, and tryptophan, which helps strengthen the immune system.
