TOPS NEWS – January 22, 2015

Six TOPS and one KOPS were present at the January 22 meeting of Imperial TOPS NE0267. Barb was the best loser.

Challenges are to follow this week’s instructions in the calendar from Karen: Snack only on fruits or vegetables, make a smoothie with fresh fruit and yogurt, count your steps, stop eating when you’re full, and be thankful! What to avoid? Snacking after 7 p.m.

Program

brussel_sprouts_potatoes_chicken_500 (1)Diann presented a program from Health.com: New Ways to Start the Year Off Light. Tips included:
  • Don’t do something else while you’re eating; it leads to “eating amnesia”;
  • Load up on fiber at breakfast;
  • Don’t just banish “bad” foods – replace or add nutritious foods;
  • Put your vegetables in plain sight in your fridge;
  • When eating out, double up on the vegetables.
Barb and Shirley will provide food for the February 8 dinner at the community center. Members will decide by February 5 who will be attending SRD in Grand Island the last weekend of March.

TOPS Club meets from 9 to 10 a.m. on Thursdays at the Imperial Community Center, with weigh-ins beginning at 8:30. The first meeting is free. Find out more at www.TOPS.org.
