Eight TOPS and two KOPS were present at the August 1 meeting
of Imperial TOPS NE0267. Judy was the best loser for the week, and Carolyn
received a Kept-It-Off award.
The Yes-Yes for the week is to make healthy choices when
eating out; the No-No is desserts sweetened with sugar.
Carolyn and Karen W.
will provide food for the Senior Center Dinner on Sunday, August 11. The
chapter has been invited to a TOPS picnic in Grant on Monday, August 5 with the
Grant and Ogallala TOPS chapters.
Karen S. presented an insightful program on the importance
of writing your own memoirs. She suggested some memory prompts then asked the
group to write five minutes on the memory. Writing your own story provides insights
into your life your family might not have had otherwise.
Shirley will give the program on August 8, on “Faring Well
at Summer Fairs.” Karen W. will present the program on August 15.
TOPS Club meets from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Imperial Community
Center, with weigh-ins beginning at 8:30. For more information about TOPS,
phone Cheryl at 883-0265 or go to www.tops.org or imperialnetops.blogspot.com.
The first meeting is free.
For more information on how to write a memoir, see this Reader's Digest article, which begins with an interview with Jeannette Walls, author of The Glass Castle.
